RJ Vinedos is a family-owned winery led by its founder, Raul Joffre, along with his four daughters. The journey began in 1996 when Raul acquired and renovated a traditional cement tank winery located in the Perdriel region of Lujan de Cuyo, alongside a small vineyard in the Los Sauces area of the Uco Valley. Today, they boast 60 hectares in the Uco Valley, as well as properties in Alto Agrelo and further north in the Calchaquíes Valley, Salta. The vineyards are sustainably managed, with no chemicals used in either the vineyards or the winery. Winemaker Sebastián San Martin adopts a minimalistic approach, allowing the grapes to express themselves and focusing on the purity of fruit with minimal intervention. Their offerings include the Reunion and MDZ wines, in addition to a selection of reserve wines.
The Reunion Malbec is produced from a sustainably farmed, single estate vineyard situated in Los Sauces, Mendoza. Nestled at an elevation of 3,280 to 4,074 feet, the vineyard features predominantly sandy and stony soil with vines that are 15 years old.
The grapes are harvested by hand, and the Malbec undergoes a minimum aging process of four months in third-use oak barrels, with 70% being French and 30% American.
This wine showcases a deep, concentrated red hue with hints of purple. It offers an expressive bouquet of ripe plum and cherry aromas, complemented by subtle notes of chocolate. On the palate, Reunion Malbec is soft and rounded, featuring velvety, mature tannins. It boasts a well-balanced profile and a lengthy finish.
