The Mas Gomà estate comprises a main farmhouse, established in 1724, and a quaint Romanesque church named Sant Valentí, constructed in 1135. Situated in Les Cabanyes, at the heart of Penedès, a region steeped in viticultural history and tradition, the estate has been under the ownership of the Vendrell family since 1918. The family has intermittently cultivated grapes and crafted wine on the property. A new chapter began in 2009, with Joan Vendrell managing the business aspects and his father, Joan Manel Vendrell, bringing 30 years of winemaking expertise.
The two Joans believe the estate possesses unique attributes that allow for the production of long-aged cavas. These include the high calcareous content of the terroirs, the vineyard orientation, and the old vines - some exceeding 60 years old - that yield top-quality grapes with low outputs. Only the oldest vines are utilized for winemaking on-site, while younger vine grapes are sold to neighboring producers. Within the cellar, all fermentation occurs with natural yeasts, minimal sulfur is added depending on the cuvée, and the wines remain unfined and unfiltered.
