Alsatian wines are steeped in centuries of tradition, with the Helfrich family tracing their roots back to a long line of Alsatians. For the last three generations, this family has played a significant role in the wine and spirits industry in northern Alsace. The journey began with Grandfather René, who started producing classic Alsatian products, including homemade fruit brandies like Kirschwasser, Schnapps, and plum white brandy, along with traditional Alsatian varietal wines. Inspired by his passion for his Alsatian heritage, René’s son Joseph ventured into a new chapter in the wine and spirits business. In 1979, he founded Les Grands Chais de France, which has grown to be one of the most successful wine companies in France. Today, Frederic Helfrich and his sister Anne-Laure represent the family's newest generation.
